The "Reclaim Our Border" Convoy ended in the town of Eagle Pass after crossing nine states for two and a half days. The group's leaders said they intended to voice concerns about border security and its impact on local communities. Among the participants of the trip was Keith Alan Self, a former Republican military man who sympathizes with Donald Trump. 70 years old, former judge and current congressman for the third district of Texas, Self incited the members of the patriot convoy with his alarms about the border crisis. He spoke with LPO exclusively.
What do you intend to achieve with this event?
Our mission here today is to save our republic, in a movement that expands throughout America. People are so frustrated in the United States with the federal government that they end up showing their indignation with expressions like this caravan. These people are the voice of a movement that represents millions of people who are not listen to.
In your speech, you made reference to the difference in treatment between immigrants and war veterans, as is your case.
I'm on the House Committee on Veteran's Affairs and we see a lot of homeless veterans living on the streets, kids kicked out of school to shelter illegal immigrants. Now the aviation administration wants to offer accommodation at airports. When is the federal government going to work for Americans?
In Joe Biden's America we live on the edge with a weekly salary, while illegal immigrants are given cell phones, plane tickets and free accommodation.
In Biden's America, if you are pro-Catholic, you are questioned, while a repeat offender can roam the United States for an entire year and nothing happens to him. In Biden's America, if you're a MAGA Republican, you're on the FBI watch list. In Biden's United States, 8 million illegal immigrants have entered in 3 years, one hundred thousand minors are lost throughout the country and enough fentanyl crosses the border to kill the entire world's population. Under Biden, the cartels control the southern border. We are experiencing a spiritual battle for the survival of the country.
Do you think that the concerns that you are pointing out can be extrapolated to other countries as well?
German farmers are doing this, the French and the Dutch are doing this, Canadian truckers did this. This is a movement that is spreading around the world against government abuse. We are taking part in this fight against the government.
Alarmist comments are increasingly being heard that evoke a possible civil war.
We are not going to go to any civil war. We will find a way to move forward with the revival of this country, but without giving up American values. I am here to call on the Biden administration to repent of their actions and stop oppressing the American people. We want to restore law and order.
As the national debate revolves around US immigration policies and how to secure the border, Eagle Pass has become the epicenter of a confrontation between the Biden administration and the state government of Greg Abbott, who has restricted access to the Border Patrol and installed barbed wire in Rio Grande to stop immigrants at the border.
Meanwhile, the members of the patriotic convoy claim that President Biden and his administration are violating federal immigration laws and describe the situation at the border as an invasion.
