Latino Insurrectionist Tours Border With Eight Republican Lawmakers

Republican lawmakers have repeatedly attempted to change the narrative about the January 6 insurrection in the national Capitol.

Eight members of Congress -- all white, all Republican -- were spotted being friendly to Anthony Aguero, a Latino with the mob that stormed the United States Capitol complex on January 6th.

Representatives Lauren Boebert (R-CO), Madison Cawthorn (R-NC), Ronny Jackson (R-TX), Thomas Tiffany (R-WI), Chris Jacobs (R-NY), Michael Cloud (R-TX), John Rose (R-TN), and Mary Miller (R-IL) are described as having "chatted with, translated for, and gave a ride to" Aguero during a trip this week to the United States' border with Mexico.

A self-described "independent journalist" and former Republican candidate for Congress, Aguero interviewed more than a half-dozen lawmakers - including Cawthorn, Jackson, and Miller - during a nearly three-hour livestream on YouTube.

"I appreciate the Congressmen and Congresswomen that went out of their way to come to the Border to see the crisis for themselves," Aguero said in a statement to CNN.

Republicans have mostly opposed efforts by House and Senate Democrats to investigate the insurrection on January 6th when then-President Donald Trump incited a mob to storm the Capitol complex resulting in multiple deaths and the horror of a nation in disbelief.

In the aftermath of the violence social media companies like Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram blocked Donald Trump's accounts, but the lawmakers whose lives were threatened by the murderous mob earlier this year have failed almost entirely along partisan lines to investigate the violent insurrection seen worldwide inside the marble halls of Congress on Capitol Hill in Washington.

In response to Republican obstruction of the majority party's efforts to investigate, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, the most-powerful member of Congress in the lower chamber, has called for a special committee to investigate the riot at the Capitol led by Homeland Security Committee chair Bennie Thompson.

Republican lawmakers courting Aguero is just the latest in a series of attempts by the minority party to change the narrative about January 6th away from the reality of a Trump-led riot in the national Capitol.

Buckley Carlson, son of popular right-wing television host Tucker Carlson, said Aguero's presence with the group of lawmakers on the border this week was "purely incidental."
