New shift for Democrats: Irma Eréndira disables Videgaray for 10 years

Biden's officials blame the former foreign minister for Trump's 2016 win. These are calculated shifts.

In a new gesture by the government towards Washington, Irma Eréndira Sandoval proceeded to disable Luis Videgaray for a period of 10 years. The secretary of Civil Service alleges financial incompatibilities on the part of the former foreign minister.

From now on, Sandoval will say that it is part of her anti-corruption advancements and it is likely that her husband John Ackerman will seeks to portray the action - in one of his soporific writings -, as a blow to an absolute protagonist of the "neoliberal era". In fact, the disqualification is another sign of peace for the Joe Biden administration.

In various circles of the Democratic party, Videgaray is blamed for Donald Trump's victory in the 2016 election. During that campaign, in Trump's worst moments, he received the controversial invitation to Los Pinos from Videgaray, which put him back in the race internally. Then Susan Rice, Barack Obama's security adviser, would ask Enrique Peña Nieto the dismissal of Videgaray.

There is one more reason, and a more pragmatic one, to sanction the former foreign minister: Videgaray is no longer useful to Lopez Obrador's government as when he worked with Trump in the White House. The current MIT professor used to advise former Ambassador Martha Barcenas in the shadows, introduce her to people of interest, and guide her through the twists and turns of American politics.

With the Democrats back in power, Videgaray looks less glittery, and no longer enjoys the privileges he held in the past with Jared Kushner.
